Big 12 releases penalty statements following OU’s loss to Kansas

LAWRENCE — The Big 12 released two statements regarding penalties following No. 6 Oklahoma’s (7-1, 4-1 Big 12) 38-33 loss to Kansas (6-2, 3-2) on Saturday.

On Jayhawks wide receiver Quentin Skinner’s confirmed catch:

“The ball was touched by the defense so the offensive players right foot reestablished him in bounds and can legally touch the ball.”

On the targeting call that ejected OU safety Reggie Pearson:

“The indicator is taking aim and lowers the shoulder to make forceable contact to the head and neck area of a defenseless player.”

The loss was Oklahoma’s first to Kansas since 1997.

Next, the Sooners face in-state rival Oklahoma State for the final time next Saturday.
