Bill Cosby Is Being Sued by Singer Morganne Picard for Sexual Assault

Bill Cosby has been hit with another rape case because of a California law that lets people sue for things that happened long ago.

Singer Morganne Picard filed a lawsuit against the disgraced media star on Friday. She says that between 1987 and 1990, he drugged her and raped her several times.

The case also names NBCUniversal Media, Kaufman Astoria Studios, Astoria Studios Limited Partnership II, and The Carsey-Werner Company as defendants, saying that they knew about Cosby’s abuse and did nothing to stop it.

Nearly 60 women have accused the former star of The Cosby Show of committing a series of sex crimes during his time in show business.

He was given a term of three to ten years in prison in 2018 for giving Andrea Constand drugs and sexually assaulting her in 2004.

But after only three years, his conviction was thrown out, and he was let out of jail in 2021.

Picard said that the singer lost consciousness after drinking a drink Cosby gave her more than once. After she came to, she said, the star did sexual acts on her.

Picard said that Cosby “undressed and raped her, without her consent and when she did not have the capacity to consent.”

As for her claims against the above companies, the lawsuit said, “They knew and/or should have known Cosby was sexually abusing, preying on, grooming, assaulting, and/or battering women using the power, authority, resources, and facilities they provided to Cosby, but did nothing to stop it.”

She is suing the production companies for carelessness and bad hiring, keeping, and supervising, and she wants Cosby to pay her both compensatory and punitive damages.
