Billie Eilish Performs a Beautiful Rendition of What Was I Made For? on Saturday Night Live

Billie Eilish, 21, collaborated with Kate McKinnon on the most recent edition of Saturday Night Live.

For the first time, the Grammy winner performed her iconic song from the film Barbie, What Was I Made For? live.

McKinnon was joined by the film’s director, Greta Gerwig, as they made the announcement.

In a funny ad, the pop sensation teased her Saturday Night Live performance alongside McKinnon and cast member Ego Nwodim.

In three funny pieces, the group offered a series of smart remarks in which they mocked Billie’s engagement with Oppenheimer.

The second and third segments discussed “roasted beef sandwiches” and various Christmas traditions.

Eilish mentioned the song as her ‘personal’ favorite from the soundtrack during an interview with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show.

She highlighted the song’s creation process, stating that Gerwig is such a “sweetheart,” who she said urged Billie to do a song that would transport viewers “elsewhere.”

The vocalist expressed her affection for the song, saying, “And that, like, stuck with us. That really stayed with us.”

The Ocean Eyes star continued, “when Barbie and Ruth are in that, like, white place, the white abyss, and she takes her hands and she’s like, “FEEL,” the musician exclaimed.

The What Was I Made For symbol has been shared. “I’m like- it gives me chills when I think about it.”

She went on to say that the song attempts to bring women closer together and is heavy on the “strength” element, referring to their power as individuals.

Barbie’s music was released on July 13, with the film following on July 21.
