BOSTON, AUG. 19, 2024…..A state agency tasked with safeguarding natural resources in Massachusetts intends to expand land protection efforts, launch a blue carbon incentives program, and create new opportunities for environmental justice communities to access nature, among a bevy of other ambitious goals outlined in a newly released strategic plan.

The Massachusetts Department of Fish and Game, housed within the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs, also plans to pursue legislation next session to change its name as part of a rebranding strategy to double down on its biodiversity, climate resilience and environmental justice initiatives.
