MADISON, Wis. — Bipartisan legislation aimed at providing care closer to home for those in the midst of a mental health crisis received public hearings in front of committees in both the Senate and Assembly Wednesday afternoon.
Senate Bill 462/Assembly Bill 467 would require the state’s Department of Health Services to set up a certification process for treatment facilities helping people experiencing mental health or substance use disorders. It would also task the agency with setting up a grant program to provide those facilities with financial support.
