A special exhibition featuring the artwork of mother and daughter Susan and Ashlee Birckhead, along with works by Bart and Jason, residents of The Benjamin House in Elizabeth City, opened last week at the Perquimans Arts League’s gallery in Hertford.

Susan Birckhead, a longtime educator and artist, spent four decades as an art teacher in Edenton-Chowan Schools before opening Dandelion Art Studio, where she provided art instruction to children and adults for more than 25 years.
