The home decor shop on Saratoga Road, with a peaceful atmosphere, has a boutique flower shop feel. It offers faux floral decorations, along with items like vases and lamps.

When owner Maureen Culver first opened the shop in her home in 2012 that peaceful feeling was exactly the emotion she was going for.

“People come in here and bring their tea and their coffee and just walk around,” she said.

Culver started the business after working for a decade as an intake specialist for the law firm Martin, Harding and Mazotti. She had decided she wanted a different career.

“I went on a couple different job interviews and — at 50-years-old — I didn’t want to start over again with vacation time” she said. “So, I approached my husband and I said, ‘What if we open a little gift shop in our house?’”

Culver said she had a customer within five minutes of initially opening the shop.

“I still have her today,” she said.

Eventually, Culver outgrew her home and needed a new space.

“My business has grown tremendously and — when I was at my house, for every one step I should have taken, I took 10, because I never knew where things were. I was running up and down into the basement,” she said.

Culver said TJ Ruggiero, who owns Flightline Pub also on Saratoga Road, told her the space next door was getting an updated look. Culver decided the space was perfect for her shop, and she opened there in June 2022.

Culver said she has always been into home decor, noting — whenever she was at a friend’s home — she would make suggestions about where they should move things. She would also rearrange her home a lot.

“My husband, he would have to turn the light on at night if he came in and I was home because he knew I moved some furniture and he didn’t want to trip over it,” she said.

Culver’s hope is to make houses feel like homes with the items she offers. She said she buys items that “speak” to her. She said the items she offers are “definitely on the warm, country primitive side,” but she is able to do anything.

“I’m not strictly one look,” she said.

The candles and floral decorations are top-selling items. But, new items are added to the store every day.

Culver said business has been really good and she hasn’t really had any major challenges.

The store will be undergoing a refresh in February, with the shop closed to customers as new items are brought in. Culver said it will reopen in March.
