Save £50 on the Dyson airstrait straightener
Since the launch of the Dyson airwrap, the vacuum cleaner whizz has gone from strength to strength in the hair tool department, too. One of its latest launches, the airstraight, has been slashed in price by £50, and while I’m yet to try it myself, The Independent’s eCommerce Editor Eva Waite-Taylor, who was able to give her first impressions review, reported great results.
Dyson airstrait straightener: Was £499.99, now £399.99, Boots.com
True to its name, the airstrait takes your hair from wet to styled using air rather than heat, reducing the possibility of damage. When she got her hands on the tool, Eva said she’d liken it to the way her hair looks after a hairdresser blowdries it into a straight style. It also made her “thick, weighty locks feel light and healthy”, and the finish was “much more natural”. Now, you can get £50 off the price.
What’s more, our senior eCommerce writer, Daisy, has spotted a rare deal on the cult Dyson airwrap – she’ll catch you up in her article below.
Highlights from the huge Currys Black Friday sale
Whether you’re looking to save money on a Shark vacuum cleaner, a laptop deal or a new 4K OLED television, it’s well worth making Currys a port of call. Coffee drinkers, here’s a deal on a tried and tested coffee machine, which has brought the price down to less than £60.
Tassimo by Bosch my way 2 coffee machine with Brita filter: Was £99.99, now £59.99, Currys.co.uk
“Despite its purse-friendly price, this Tassimo machine has lots of features found on bigger-ticket coffee machines,” IndyBest reviewer Zoe said, when she put the ‘my way’ model to the test. Featuring an LED display, it comes with a fitted Britta water filter, and you can “tweak the temperature, volume and intensity of your coffee easily on the buttons on front”, and set it to remember four different favorite drinks, explained Zoe.
There’s nearly 30% of the Ghd original hair styler
Ghd is something of a hair tool legend, owing to its cutting edge technology and wide range of tools, from the helios hair dryer to the OG hair straightener (which, according to beauty writer Maisie Bovingdon, is still the best). Looking for a bargain on one of its industry-leading tools? You’re in luck.
Ghd original hair styler: Was £139, now £100, Amazon.co.uk
In her review, Maisie named the original hair styler the best overall. “I have sworn by ghd’s original styler straighteners ever since they launched in 2001, and though they have undergone some slight modifications over the years, it’s safe to say these straighteners are durable, stand the test of time, hold a style in place for hours, even in humid weather, and are therefore my go-to top pick.”
The best Black Friday travel deals for 2024
Dreaming of jetting off for a European city break? Or soaking up the sun on a poolside getaway? Black Friday discounts could save you hundreds of pounds on hotel stays, flights and all-inclusive package holidays, with deals from the likes of British Airways, Eurostar, Jet2holidays and Royal Caribbean.
Travel writer Natalie has rounded up everything you need to know about the travel Black Friday sales below:
Why is it called Black Friday?
The first use of Black Friday dates back to the Fifties in Philadelphia, where the local police department coined the term to describe the huge traffic jams, overcrowded pavements and mobbed stores in the city on the day after Thanksgiving.
It wasn’t until the 1980s that the phrase caught on in the rest of America, and was used as a marketing ploy to promote the consumer event and encourage sales. It was then deployed as a reference to the financial status of stores, as they went from being “in the red” to “in the black” as profits increased.
It has since become one of the biggest shopping events in the calendar – not just in the United States, but also in the UK and other parts of the world.
While it was once just a one-day sale, it’s now evolved into a four-day bonanza, and in some cases, it spans the entire month of November, with deals on tech, beauty, home appliances, fashion, toys and much more.
