BLACKPINK’s New Contract Excludes Any Solo Performances

As part of their renewed contract with YG Entertainment, members of South Korean girl group BLACKPINK will not pursue solo endeavors.

On Friday, December 29, the media agency published a formal statement via the media outlet Herald Pop stating that Jisoo, Rosé, Jennie, and Lisa’s current contract will only cater to group activities.

“Hello, this is YG Entertainment. BLACKPINK recently renewed their contracts with YG for their group activities, and we have agreed not to proceed with additional contracts for [the members’] individual activities,” it said.

“We will do our utmost to support BLACKPINK’s activities, and we will cheer on the members’ individual activities with warm hearts,” the press release went on to say.

For those who are unaware, the well-known K-pop trio renewed their contracts with YG earlier this month.

During their now-defunct contract with the agency, the quartet debuted their individual endeavors, which included Jennie’s song individual, published in 2018, followed by Rosé, Lisa, and Jisoo’s full-length album.

Jennie recently announced the creation of her own label, OA or ODD ATELIER, while Jisoo, the oldest BLACKPINK member, has been exploring her talent for acting in the industry.
