EDISON, NJ – Carlos Braun Simo and Anagha Shankar have been named MAAC Tennis Players of the Week as announced by the league office on Wednesday, January 31, 2024.
 
Both First Year players had a stellar weekend in their respective matches. Braun Simo went 3-1 over the weekend while Shankar won both her singles and doubles match on Saturday versus Hofstra.
 
Braun Simo won both of his singles matches at the No. 4 spot, beating Matsuoka of Hofstra 6-4, 7-5 on Saturday night and Oberg of Yale 6-1, 3-6, 12-10. He also won his doubles match on Saturday with partner Finn Burridge, 6-4.
 
Shankar won her singles match the No. 1 spot 7-6(4), 6-3 over Soyer of Hofstra. She teamed up with Vera Sekerina in doubles to win 6-3.
 
Both Bobcat teams are back in action this weekend. Men’s tennis will be hosting Temple University at 11:00 at North Haven Health & Racquet on Friday, while women’s tennis will travel up to Amherst, Mass. to face UMass on Saturday afternoon. The match is set for 1:00 PM.
