BOZEMAN, Montana – Montana State registered a clean sweep on Saturday, topping Whitworth 7-0 and 7-0 in a pair of men’s tennis matches at the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center.
 
The Cats didn’t drop a set against the NCAA Division III Pirates, winning three doubles sets and all six singles contests in each match. Rayen Hermassi, a freshman who arrived during the semester break, teamed with Andre Stewart to win both his doubles matches and captured both his singles matches. Andras Necz earned his first singles win as a Bobcat during the second dual of the day.
 
After sweeping the doubles point in the first match, a 6-1, 6-0 win by Max Relic over Ethan Warring at No. 1 and a 6-4, 6-0 win by Hermassi over Henry Preacher drew the Bobcats within one victory of the team win. That came when Andre Stewart earned a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Nathan Tjelle.
 
The second match unfolded in similar fashion. MSU won the doubles point, then Stewart’s 6-0, 6-0 win over Payton Romey began singles play. Andras Necz (6-1, 6-1 over Nathan Tjelle) and Dario Ciobotaru (6-2, 6-2 over Warring) clinched the victory. 

The wins raises Montana State’s record to 4-0 on the season, while Whitworth falls to 0-4. This is the first time the Bobcats have begun a season with four straight wins since 1993. Montana State’s next match is Saturday at BYU.
