Boiler Room has been acquired by festival operator Superstruct Entertainment.
The news comes four years after the popular streaming platform was acquired by DICE, who will continue to operate as Boiler Room’s ticketing partner for events. The value of the deal with Superstruct Entertainment has not been disclosed.
According to a press release, Boiler Room intends to “retain its identity” following the acquisition. Ticketed events, merchandise and apparel will continue to provide revenue streams, as will brand partnerships with companies such as Pernod Ricard and Ballantine’s.
“As we turn 15 and enter our next stage of growth, we’re excited to be partnering with Superstruct for this chapter,” said Boiler Room founder Blaise Bellville in a statement. “We feel in good company with their roster of brands, they offer us new opportunities to grow, whilst understanding the importance of staying true to the authenticity that, at its core, is what makes Boiler Room special.”
Superstruct already has a portfolio of more than 80 major events across Europe, including prominent electronic music festivals DGTL and Mysteryland in the Netherlands, Budapest’s Sziget, one of the continent’s largest festivals, and Brunch Electronik. Parookaville and Wacken Open Air, respectively the biggest dance and heavy metal weekenders in Germany, are also owned by the giant.
The company was established in 2017 by Providence Equity Partners and James Barton, co-founder of legendary Liverpool nightclub Cream and a former Live Nation executive. It sold last year to investment specialists KKR and CVC for a rumoured €1.3 billion.
“We are proud to welcome the talented team at Boiler Room, who have managed to consistently grow the platform over the last fifteen years whilst maintaining a distinct cultural approach,” said Superstruct Entertainment CEO Roderik Schlösser. “This partnership perfectly aligns with Superstruct’s mission to celebrate and amplify cultures through creativity, collaboration, and live entertainment. Boiler Room is in the best position it has ever been and we are excited to support them in their promising future ahead.”
