Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are not only best friends, but they also have joint bank account.
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon said on a recent episode of The Bill Simmons Podcast that they shared a bank account in the 1980s so they could help each other with auditions and get their acting careers off to a good start.
Damon told Variety, “It was weird, but we needed the money for auditions. Looking back, it was a weird thing to do.”
“We were going to be there for each other and help each other. It was like saying, “You won’t be alone. I won’t be by myself. Let’s go out and do this together,’” Affleck then spoke up.
Damon, who is 52, also said, “We knew the power wouldn’t go out as long as one of us had money. After the movie “Geronimo” came out in 1992, I had about $35,000 in the bank. I thought, “We’re set for a year.”
“You could take the money to New York to try out for jobs. You could take out $10, buy quarters, and go play video games at the arcade, “Damon said. “We were finally allowed to try to buy beer, but it never worked.
