The 2023-24 Brandon-Evansville boys basketball team will hope to rebound from a difficult 2022-23 campaign that saw the team finish at 6-21.
Seventh-year head coach Trent Hintermeister believes his group can do just that.
“This is a very unselfish group of young men who are not just basketball players but are also important members in our school,” Hintermeister said. “Six players are in our National Honor Society, and the vast majority of our players are two, three or four-sport athletes. We pride ourselves on success being measured in multiple capacities.”
The squad returns eight players with varsity experience; all eight of which are upperclassmen.
“Our returning players have played a lot of basketball together,” Hintermeister said. “They get along well and will continue to get better as the season goes on. I hope we can rebound the ball well so we can get out in transition as much as possible… I expect us to be the hardest working team on the floor every night we play and to control the things we can control. We hope to be the best teammates we can be and take care of the ball to the best of our abilities.”

Hintermeister will be joined by assistant coaches: Adam Wagner, Kellen Traphagen, Jeff Martinson and Casey Lipp. The coaching staff will have a difficult job preparing the Chargers for a strong conference and section slate.
“Our conference is stacked,” Hintermeister said. “I truly believe there is not one bad team in the Little Eight Conference this season. Every team returned key players of some sort, and I have a tremendous amount of respect for all of the coaches in the conference… BBE, WCA, Henning, Park Christian and others will make Section 6A, once again, one of the toughest sections to be a part of in the state of Minnesota.”
