Brad Pitt has suffered a severe setback during the production of his new racing film, which was followed by a Sag-AFTRA strike.
After sponsorship deals changed, the Oscar-winning actor, 59, who is supposed to play a veteran Formula One driver in an untitled film with director Joseph Kosinski, had to discard hours of previously recorded material.
Pitt and his production team shot hours of film on site during the first half of the Formula One season, when the actor drove a Formula Two car with a Formula One aero package at the Silverstone Circuit in July.
However, a writer’s strike soon followed, which concluded in October. Meanwhile, an insider informed The Sun that the actor’s strike ended this month, which resulted in a shift in sponsorship deals, rendering any pre-recorded video worthless.
“It really is a nightmare for Brad and the team,” a source told the magazine. “A lot of events had been earmarked for filming throughout the year which would have helped reduce costs rather than having to recreate high-speed moments and wide shots.”
“However, with all the sponsors changing it now makes the footage defunct,” they stated. “It’s gutting for Brad and Lewis who see this project as their baby.”
Jerry Bruckheimer and British racing legend Lewis Hamilton co-produce the upcoming film with Pitt.
A source previously stated that suspending production was a “massive call, especially financially,” in the midst of the strike call. The Fight Club star, on the other hand, “listened to the concerns of the people he works with and wants to show his support.”
