NUMBER 95: Mary Fugate of Hurricane, WV, member of Forrest Burdette Memorial United Methodist Church, turned 95 years young Nov. 17. Here’s hoping she received at least that many cards of birthday blessings, love and happiness and can enjoy another year of God’s many blessings.

WRITERS: Writers Can Read open mic night event begins at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, at Heritage Station. Featured readers are Carter Taylor Seaton and Richard Hartman. Seaton is an award-winning author of four novels with most recent one, “Guilt,” released a couple months ago, and four non-fiction works and recently inducted into Greater Huntington Wall of Fame. Hartman is a native West Virginian and Marshall University graduate with a bachelor’s degree and two master’s degrees. He’s been a forest ranger, paramedic, grant specialist, administrative law judge, legislative director and adjunct history professor at Marshall and West Virginia State universities. Admission is free.
