Britney Spears‘ manager, Cade Hudson, has criticized Saturday Night Live writers as “pathetic” for their recent skit featuring Chloe Fineman’s parody of the singer discussing her new memoir, “The Woman In Me.”
Hudson expressed his disapproval on Instagram, where he hit out at SNL and revealed that they have asked him to get Spears on the show.
“Wow. The writers of SNL are getting worse and worse,” Hudson noted.
“No wonder you all reached out to me to get Britney on the show… SNL is on life support.
“You all are pathetic and this Chloe [Fineman] isn’t funny. Did you find her on Craigslist or something?”
The skit involves cast members auditioning to read the audiobook, with various celebrities impersonated. The real audiobook narrator, Michelle Williams, is impersonated by Allison Janney, Timothee Chalamet, Steve-O, John Mulaney, and others.
Chalamet, the show’s host, is portrayed as director Martin Scorsese, while Jada Pinkett Smith promotes her own memoir instead.
Fineman previously impersonated Britney twice
The skit humorously explores the audition process, including quirky impersonations by various stars. It ends with Chalamet’s character admitting he “can’t read” after numerous takes.
Fineman has previously impersonated Britney in 2021 and 2022 on SNL. The skit appears inspired by Michelle Williams‘ viral narration, where she impersonated Britney’s ex, Justin Timberlake, attempting a “blaccent” to impress black musicians.
In Britney’s book, she accuses Justin of trying too hard to fit in during their time in *NSYNC, recalling an instance in 1999 when he adopted a “blaccent” while meeting R&B singer Ginuwine.
A “blaccent” refers to a non-Black person imitating Black English, specifically African American Vernacular English (AAVE).
