Brittney Griner has returned to the court after being jailed in Russia for just over a year. Griner, 32, spent the majority of 2022 jailed in Russia on narcotics charges after being nabbed for possessing a minor amount of hash oil. This week, she renewed her contract with the Phoenix Mercury after returning to the United States in December via a prisoner exchange. On Friday, Griner, 32, was captured training for the first time since her return to the United States while sporting a new short hairstyle. Several Phoenix sportsmen celebrated the homecoming of the gold medallist. Deandre Ayton of the Phoenix Suns told ESPN, “Just to watch her practice and to go around on the court is incredible.” “Her simply being back, attempting to regain fitness, and appreciating what she likes to do. Her mind is at ease, and everyone is content.”
