Bryan Cranston talks about his Breaking Bad co-star Mark Margolis, who died at the age of 83 on August 4, 2023.
The 67-year-old actor wrote a moving homage to the late star on Instagram. He started talking about how he felt along with the pictures from both TV shows. “Mark Margolis was a really good actor and a lovely human being. Fun and engaging off the set, and (in the case of Breaking Bad and Your Honor) intimidating and frightening on set.”
“His quiet energy belied his mischievous nature and curious mind… And he loved sharing a good joke,” the man said. “I miss him already. Rest now, Mark and thank you for your friendship and your exceptional body of work.”
Margolis and Cranston both had roles in the second through fourth seasons of the hit AMC show Breaking Bad. He played Hector “Tio” Salamanca, a former drug boss who had a stroke and became unable to speak or move. Margolis was up for an Emmy for the role in 2012.
Later, he played the role again in the Breaking Bad spinoff Better Call Saul. He was in seasons 2 through 6 of the show.
Also, he worked with Cranston again on the crime show Your Honor, which played on Showtime from 2020 to 2023.
People magazine says that Margolis died on Thursday at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City. He had lived for 83 years. On Friday, his son Morgan Margolis, who is the CEO of Knitting Factory Entertainment, told the world that the late actor had died. He also confirmed that his father had been sick before.
“He was one of a kind,” Margolis’ boss, Robert Kolker of Red Letter Entertainment, said in a statement to Deadline. “We won’t see his likes again. He was a treasured client and a lifelong friend. I was lucky to know him.”
