Blundell retained the Skip’s Towing portion of his former business and will continue to operate his towing business.

In his search to run his own operation Merrill had explored a couple of opportunities before contacting Blundell. They worked out an agreement and Merrill took over at the end of September after spending the previous two months working with Blundell getting to know the techs and customers.

“It’s the same location and features the same great service,” said Merrill. “It just comes with a different owner and it’s an owner that grew up here in York and wants to stay here. There’s been a learning curve when you get into a new operation and there’s a lot to do on the business side.”

Merrill said that automotive technicians Felix Mastas and Shane Metsinger will continue as employees of The Car Clinic.

Merrill went all the way through the York Public School system graduating from York High School in 2009. After attending the University of Nebraska – Kearney for a semester he went on to attend Southeast Community College in Milford where he graduated at the top of his class with an Associate of Science degree in the automotive technology program.

“The Car Clinic will continue to provide all automotive services along with tire repair and alignment,” said Merrill. “Also factory programming on all domestic models and providing service on diesel pickups.”

When not at the shop Merrill enjoys spending time with his wife Jenna and daughter Harlee. The couple also has another child on the way. He is the son of Harvey and Deb Merrill of York.

Mousel has lived in York for the past 25 years and became interested in this field when she wasn’t able to find answers to her own health and digestive issues. She completed a 20-month certification training.

Free car washes for veterans

16th Street Car Wash will again provide free car washes to veterans and current military service personnel, under the Grace For Vets Free Wash Program on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 9 a.m. — 5 pm. Washes will be given rain or shine.

The free washes are given to honor and recognize those that have and are serving in the armed forces. 16th Street Car Wash, owned by Jon and Joan Strong, is proud to have been participating in the Grace for Vets program for several years.

“This day is not about the car wash operators who are providing the free washes, it’s about honoring and recognizing those that have and are serving and protecting our country, says Jon Strong. “Our employees look forward to giving back to those that have given so much.”

Grace For Vets was founded by Mike Mountz, former owner of Cloister Wash & Lube, in Ephrata, PA in 2004.
