CAA Signs Misfits Entertainment With Founders Andee Ryder and Ian Bonhôte (EXCLUSIVE)


Misfits Entertainment has signed with CAA.

Founded in 2016 by Andee (Dee) Ryder and Ian Bonhôte, Misfits Entertainment most recently produced “Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story” alongside Passion Pictures and Words + Pictures. Directed by Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui, the film premiered to rave reviews at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and sold to Warner Bros. in a groundbreaking eight-figure deal. The film released theatrically worldwide on Sept. 21.

Misfits’ first feature, “Alleycats,” was globally distributed by Universal Pictures in 2016. The thriller, set in the world of illegal bike racing, follows a young woman in pursuit of justice after her brother is killed on the streets of London in a hit-and-run.

The company then quickly made its mark on the documentary scene in 2018 with “McQueen,” the critically acclaimed documentary about the fashion designer Lee Alexander McQueen which earned double BAFTA nominations.

The team continued building its reputation with “Rising Phoenix,” a two-time Emmy-winning documentary about the Paralympic movement produced for Netflix, and “Kingdom of Dreams,” a four-part non-fiction series about the fashion industry produced in collaboration with Fremantle and Sky.

Their documentary “The Contestant” was acquired by Hulu and released in May. It tells the story of an unwitting Japanese reality TV star in 1998, left naked in a room for more than a year and tasked with filling out magazine sweepstakes to earn food and clothing.

Misfits partnered with Mediawan in January 2024 with Ryder and Bonhôte continuing to run the company.
