Submitted by the Orcas Center.

Orcas Center’s Visual Arts Committee is seeking fiber artists for the next Community Art Show: Textile and Fiber Arts.

Installation day: Wednesday, Feb. 12, 10:15 a.m.-noon.

Art opening: Friday, Feb. 14, 5:30-7 p.m.

On display: Feb. 14-March 19.

Pickup: Thursday, March 20, 10:15 a.m.-noon.

Textile artworks use plant, animal or manmade fibers to make practical or decorative objects, or a combination of both. Materials such as cotton, wool, silk, acrylic, nylon, rayon and polyester are utilized through weaving, knitting, crocheting, embroidery, quilting and felting to create not only gorgeous works of art but practical everyday items as well.

Community shows are open to all island artists, beginning and experienced alike. The purpose is to showcase island art and celebrate our creative neighbors! To exhibit in a community show, an artist needs to come on installation day with their artwork ready to be displayed or hung.

Artists are urged to attend and contribute hors d’oeuvres for the Artist Reception on Friday, Feb. 14, starting at 5:30 p.m. with Ron Myers on the piano.
