
A man and a young child were in the car, and only the child survived, police say.
PHOENIX — A child is the sole survivor of a car crash in west Phoenix, police said. The area where the crash occurred – 83rd Avenue and McDowell Road – is closed for the investigation.
Phoenix police officers responded to the area of 83rd Avenue and McDowell Road regarding a car hitting into a tree at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. When officers arrived, they found a man and a young child inside the car.
The child was transported to the hospital out of precaution, police said. The man was treated at the scene for serious injuries, but did not survive. He died at the scene, police said.
The area will be closed for “an extended period of time” as detectives investigate, police said. The police said what led up to the crash is part of the ongoing investigation.
