WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — A car was towed after crashing down an embankment at Cass Park in Woonsocket on Tuesday morning.
The crash happened not far from Landmark Medical Center on Cass Avenue.
According to a police report obtained by 12 News, officers determined the car lost control and hit a curb. The car then overcorrected, hitting a utility pole and a wooden fence.
Police say the driver fled the scene, leaving the car behind. Police have been unable to get in touch with the car’s registered owner.
A wallet was found inside the car containing credit cards belonging to multiple different names and a Rhode Island Department of Corrections discharge ID.
While the driver has yet to be officially identified, a violation was issued for duty to stop after causing damage to a highway.
