Car, tractor-trailer collide in central Pa., close road: first responders


A medical helicopter was at the scene of an Adams County crash involving a car and a tractor-trailer Thursday, first responders say.

The crash happened on State Route 116 (Hanover Road) between Honda Road, Bender Road and Littlestown Road, according to 511PA.com. Traffic has been closed in both directions on PA-116 since 5:47 p.m.

The closure can be seen on 511PA.com and has been in place since just after 5:45 p.m.

United Hook and Ladder Company #33 responded to the crash and reported they extracted at least one entrapped individual from the car, according to a Facebook post. A medical helicopter also responded to the crash, but it is not clear how many people were flown or taken to the hospital.

The events leading up to the crash are not clear at this time and it is unknown how many people were injured.

The road will remain closed while Pennsylvania State Police investigate the crash and MetEd makes repairs to the damaged pole and transformer, the fire company says.
