CARBONDALE, Ill. (KFVS) – Police are looking for a man after an investigation into a disturbance where a gun was pulled that led to a high-speed crash.

According to Carbondale police, they are looking for a man described as approximately 6-feet tall and wearing black clothing. He was last seen running north in the woods between County Line and Spillway Road.

At around 5:21 p.m. on October 21, police responded to the 700 block of North Giant City Road for a report of a disturbance where a gun was shown.

A witness reported the suspect was leaving in a white Chevrolet sedan. Officers tried to stop the car from leaving, but it fled south on North Giant City Road at a high rate of speed.

Police say they did not closely follow the car when the driver began to drive recklessly.

The vehicle eventually turned east onto East Walnut Street from Giant City Road and continued at a high rate of speed.

Officers found the vehicle after it crashed near the intersection of Webb Road.
