Carol McKinnie has been named this year’s Arts & Culture Award winner for The Town of Innisfail.

Carol is a dedicated and influential member of the Innisfail community, whose contributions to education, the arts, and community service have made a lasting impact. As a teacher at John Wilson Elementary, she shaped the lives of countless students and extended her passion for education by volunteering as a skating instructor and organizing annual performances that fostered a love for the arts. Her involvement with the local science fair, where she has supported students at both the local and provincial levels, further underscores her commitment to youth development.

Carol has been a pivotal member of the Innisfail Art Club for over 20 years, serving as the club’s president for seven of those years and continuing to actively support fellow artists. Her volunteer work also includes significant contributions to organizations such as the Lions Club and supporting seniors at Autumn Grove and Sunset Manor. Carol’s selfless dedication to enhancing her community through art and culture is a true reflection of her enduring legacy, making her a very deserving recipient of the Arts & Culture Award.

At the awards ceremony, Carol was presented with artwork by Rhonda VanVlaanderen, provided by the Innisfail Art Club.
