KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has released the latest edition of the 2023-24 NAIA Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Rating. Carroll College jumped up one spot, and now resides in the top-five.
The Fighting Saints (1-1) moved up one spot from their preseason rating, and are now No. 5 in the first official rating of the 2023-24 season.
Carroll dropped a tightly-contested battle to now-ranked No. 3 Indiana Wesleyan in the season opener, and responded with a 10-point victory over NCAA Division III Whitworth last week.
The last time the Saints were ranked No. 5 in the nation was back-to-back polls in the 2021-22 season (December 1, December 15).
Carroll remains the highest-rated team in the Frontier Conference, while three other schools are appearing either on the poll or in the receiving votes category (No. 14 Rocky Mountain College, No. 18 Providence, RV Montana Western).
The Fighting Saints will hit the road this weekend, playing a pair of Arizona schools in Arizona Christian on Saturday, and Embry-Riddle on Monday.

Rating Methodology
- The rating was rated by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences/Continental Athletic Conference (Independents)/unaffiliated groups.
- The Coaches’ Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second place and so on through the list.
- The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed and the team’s ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appear on.
- Teams that receive only one point on the ballot are not considered “receiving votes”
