Catch review: ‘I think I just went to the best restaurant in the world’

It was not with the lightest of hearts that I set off from Waterloo station for lunch in Weymouth, because on my last two trips out of town, to Oxford last week and Sheffield the week before, my train home afterwards was cancelled.

The Sheffield cancellation wasn’t the end of the world. There was another train along 20 minutes later and East Midlands Railway even emailed me to offer a few quid back on the ticket. I had also had the foresight to drink no booze at all, so I was in no way ratty, impatient or tired. Totally survivable. This isn’t Germany or Japan. It’s Sunak’s Britain. Lucky not to be travelling on the back of a horse-drawn apple cart being pelted with cabbages.
