Cate Blanchett Wishes to Be Recognized in Her Own Australia

Cate Blanchett is disappointed that acting isn’t celebrated and recognized in Australia like it is in the UK and USA.

Aceshowbix.com says that the famous Hollywood star lives mostly in Britain and the United States, where she thinks her work is better appreciated.

But when she goes back to her home country of Australia, she has to explain and defend her acting job to everyone.

Mid-Day says that the actress hates talking about her job with people she doesn’t know.

“The worst thing for us as an actor in Australia is getting in the back of the cab and a cabbie asking ‘What do you do?’ because you think, “Oh God …,” she said.

Blanchett says that artists in Australia always have to fight for room and explain why they do what they do.

She also said, “Our culture is celebrated overseas, but we don’t often do it internally.”

The actress said spreading stories from her own country was important.

In her most recent movie, “The New Boy,” a native boy with superpowers lives in the Australian bush during World War II.

She said it was very important to her to be praised in her home country.

The 54-year-old actress who has won an Oscar made news when she danced on stage at Glastonbury to the song “The Girl is Crying in Her Latte.”

She said the act was spontaneous and she had no idea it would go viral.

When asked about the video that was going viral on the internet, she said, “Oh, Did it? Well, that’s exciting.”
