SAN ANTONIO- CDK Global, a prominent provider of technology services to automotive dealerships, is investigating a significant cyber incident that has disrupted operations at over 15,000 dealerships across the United States.
Among those affected is the Ancira Nissan dealership along I-10, where employees and customers are grappling with the fallout.
CDK Global, a key player in automotive retail technology, confirmed a cyber incident that has sent shockwaves through the industry.
The breach has left dealerships nationwide struggling to maintain normal business operations.
At the Ancira Nissan dealership along I-10, the impact is palpable.
“We’re making the best out of the situation as we can,” remarked Anthony Corey, General Manager at Ancira Nissan. “Everything’s through CDK… at this point, supposed to come back up on Wednesday, and then Wednesday night, we got an email saying they were hacked again, so it definitely be down Thursday. Then we haven’t had any notification today about what’s going to happen.”
Customers arriving at the dealership expressed concerns over the potential exposure of personal and financial information.
Joseph Jimenez, a customer awaiting service, voiced his apprehension.
“I use my credit cards here. If their system got hacked, how does that affect us?” he questioned.
Despite assurances from dealership management, such as Corey’s belief that customer information is not currently at risk, uncertainty prevails.
“I don’t think customers have to be concerned about information at this point,” Corey emphasized.
In response to the shutdown, dealerships like Ancira Nissan are adapting by employing traditional sales methods to minimize financial losses.
“We’re asking for patience during this time. We’re doing our best for the community,” Corey urged.
As investigations and recovery efforts continue, CDK Global and affected dealerships urge customers to remain patient while they work to restore full functionality and address any potential security concerns.
For now, stakeholders await further updates as CDK Global continues its investigation into the cyber incident, leaving dealerships and their customers navigating uncertain terrain.
