About Public Radio Music Day
On October 25, 2023, KRCB-FM will celebrate the fourth annual Public Radio Music Day.
Public Radio Music Day is a nationwide celebration uniting public radio music stations, lawmakers, fans, artists, and other members of the music industry to celebrate and spread the word about the special role noncommercial stations play in the music industry both locally and nationally. This year, we’re highlighting KRCB’s contributions to music education, artist discovery, and preservation to the North Bay’s music culture with the theme “Building Community Through Music”. The theme focuses on how public radio music stations have been historically linked with and/or supported school music programs and the local arts.
KRCB will celebrate the day with:
- On-air and live local events and performances
- Dedicated studio sessions
- Fan and artist stories
- And much more!
Listeners and supporters of KRCB know how dedicated we are to Sonoma County’s music scene. On Public Radio Music Day, we want to highlight how public radio stations provide music education, artist discovery, and preservation of the local music culture.
- A network of hundreds of local public radio music stations that serves communities across America, reaching millions of listeners weekly.
- On air, online, on video, on stage, and on-the-go, these local stations provide a platform for innovative noncommercial music programming and music discovery.
- They celebrate genres heard only on public radio, from classical to jazz to the bluegrass, rock, urban alternative, and other regional and eclectic sounds of Triple A.
- From knowledgeable local hosts and expert curation to educational programs and community initiatives, local public radio music stations play an essential and often singular role in boosting artists and music discovery and in educating and enriching communities.
