The All-Star Giveback Foundation, dedicated to serving communities in need, has something special planned that will help make this a nice Thanksgiving for thousands of area residents.

The annual All-Star Giveback: Thanksgiving Edition will provide more than 3,000 turkeys and food baskets to metro Detroit residents on a first-come, first-served basis.

The giveaway takes place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, at River Rouge High School, 1460 W. Coolidge Highway.

The event is made possible by Tarence Wheeler; multi-platinum and Emmy-winning nominee rapper Big Sean/Sean Anderson Foundation,  former NBA players Derrick Coleman, Willie Burton, Rick Mahorn, Earl Cureton, Grant Long, James “Buddha” Edwards; actor/author Hill Harper; former NFL players Herman Moore, Lomas Brown, Rob Sims, Calvin Johnson; Wayne County Executive Warren Evans, Wayne County Sheriff Ray Washington, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and Lieutenant Gov. Garlin Gilchrist.
