Women are set to wear their bikinis a little differently this summer.
Yes. a new swimwear trend is doing the rounds, and it leaves little to the imagination. The “high rise bikini” trend involves the bottoms being yanked up above a person’s waist at the front and back.
Recently we’ve seen many celebs sample the look – from Kendall Jenner to Emily Ratajkowski – and it appears to be taking over. But people are already talking about how unrealistic – and uncomfortable – it looks.

Kendall, 28, recently posted a picture in which she’s seen pulling the string of her orange bikini even higher up on her waist. It caused many people to share their thoughts on the daring look.
One person said: “Why bother with the bikini?” Another replied: “You leave NOTHING to the imagination.”
Meanwhile, a third commented: “That itsy bitsy teeny bikini isn’t hiding much.”
Meanwhile, Lalla Bronshtein, a celebrity stylist from London, has claimed the style is “totally unrealistic”. Speaking with The Sun, she said: “The high rise trend is the new celebrity style of 2024.
“Instead of celebrities wearing their bikini bottoms around their waist, they are pulling them as high as possible, which is allowing a lot of skin to be on show. But there’s a lot of background work in these photos to make them appear to be so picture perfect.
“A-listers and reality stars are lucky enough to have access to a whole team of professional photographers, extremely good lighting, makeup artists, a fashion team and editing softwares. This is ultimately why the celebrities don’t have their hair in the wrong place, or are spilling out in places you’d never want to be spilling out from.”

Meanwhile Karina Irby, who owns the Moana bikini brand, previously admitted she likes to wear her bikini waistband high up her waist as she thinks it looks better. Back in 2021, she posted side-by-side snaps of herself wearing a pink bikini in different ways.
In one picture, she placed the bottoms low around her hips and, in the other, she yanked them up super high to highlight her waist.
At the time, she said: “Notice how by changing the styling of your bikini bottom it can dramatically change the appearance of your body? Keep that in mind next time you’re looking at other Queens showing off their bikini bodies.”
The influencer also said there was “no right or wrong way to wear your bikini”, as everyone prefers to don different looks. “Personally … I’m a high-waisted gal!” she added.
