The Council of Fashion Designers of America will host its annual awards tonight at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, honoring the titans of the industry. The program, sponsored by Amazon Fashion, will be hosted by Anne Hathaway.
It’s an impressive list of nominees this year. Joseph Altuzarra of Altuzarra, Catherine Holstein of Khaite, Christopher John Rogers, Raul Lopez of Luar, and Tory Burch are all vying for Womenswear Designer of the Year, while Mike Amiri of Amiri, Willy Chavarria, Colm Dillane of KidSuper, Teddy Vonranson, and Thom Browne are competing in the menswear category. Ana Khouri, Brandon Blackwood, Stuart Vevers of Coach, Lopez, and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen of The Row are all in the running for Accessory Designer of the Year. The night will also honor emerging designers in the field, with Bach Mai, Connor McKnight, Rachel Scott of Diotima, Tanner Richie and Fletcher Kasell of Tanner Fletcher, and Carly Marks of Puppets and Puppets earning nominations.
The 2023 CFDA Awards will also reflect the current state and interests of American consumers. Gwyneth Paltrow and Goop will be presented with the second annual Innovation Award presented by Amazon Fashion, while Serena Williams will be honored for her contributions to the industry—both on and off the field—with the Fashion Icon Award. And, in a nod to the global fashion community, Jonathan Anderson will be honored with the International Designer of the Year award for his work at J.W. Anderson and Loewe.
The CFDAs are guaranteed to be a star-studded event, with Demi Moore, Ayo Edebiri, Charles Melton, Naomi Watts, and Greta Lee among the presenters, not to mention attendees including Emily Ratajkowski, Tommy Dorfman, and more. With an audience of famously stylish stars and a history of bold looks (see: Rihanna’s sheer Adam Selman dress), it’s bound to be a night of exciting fashion.
