CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte International Arts Festival (CIAF) will return for its fourth year in September 2025, expanding to a full month of programming featuring more than 200 events celebrating global arts and culture across the city.
Blumenthal Arts announced the festival will span the entire month of September, with many events offered free and ticketed performances starting at $5. The annual celebration aims to showcase both international artists and Charlotte’s diverse cultural communities.
“We began the Charlotte International Arts Festival four years ago to celebrate the incredible richness of international cultures and artists that call Charlotte home,” Tom Gabbard, President and CEO of Blumenthal Arts, said in a release. “The result is a joyous reflection of Charlotte’s global spirit and creative energy.”
Several popular returning events will relocate to the Iron District, home to Blumenthal Arts’ Blume Studios creative hub. The International Bazaar marketplace, Charlotte Brunch Festival, and CLTure Day + Night Market celebrating Charlotte’s Asian communities will be among events moving to the new venue.
The festival will feature two dedicated takeover weekends. September 13-14 will focus on the Iron District with the Charlotte Brunch Festival, CLTure Day + Night Market, and International Bazaar, plus live performances by local international artists. September 20-21 will highlight Ballantyne’s Backyard with the Festival of India and Latin American Festival.
Returning favorites include the 29th annual Festival of India, the 35th Latin American Festival, the outdoor dining event Le Dîner en Blanc, and the Boom Fringe Festival. New additions will include Step Afrika, featuring percussive African dance, and FOMO, offering free access to three Charlotte art museums.
The festival operates as a “festival of festivals,” partnering with established cultural events throughout Charlotte’s international communities. Programming will extend beyond the two main weekends to satellite events throughout September, including free activities at Levine Avenue of the Arts and The Green in Uptown Charlotte.
Last year’s festival attracted more than 500,000 attendees to over 200 events representing 63 countries during its 17-day run. The 2024 festival included 130 free events, 275 small business vendors, and five large-scale art installations.
The festival reflects Charlotte’s growing international profile and diverse population, providing a platform for both established cultural organizations and emerging artists. Events range from traditional cultural celebrations to contemporary art installations and culinary experiences.
Additional programming and partnerships will be announced in the coming months. Complete festival information is available at charlotteartsfest.com.
