CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio — If you’re looking for a little local entertainment this weekend, the Academy for the Performing Arts at Chagrin Falls High School opens their 2023-24 theater season on Thursday night with the musical “THE LIGHTNING THIEF: The Percy Jackson Musical.”
The musical, based on the book of the same name by Rick Riordan, with music and lyrics by Rob Rokicki, is the story of a 12-year-old boy who finds that he has become a demigod and uses his power to prevent a war between the Greek gods by finding Zeus’ missing lightning bolt.
The show takes place on the big stage at the high school Performing Arts Center located at 400 E. Washington St., in Chagrin Falls, and opens Thursday night, with shows on Saturday and Sunday (no show on Friday night). Tickets are available at https://www.chagrinacademy.org/tickets. Show times are 7pm for Thursday and Saturday, and a Sunday matinee at 2pm.
The Academy is made up of more than 50 high school students from 11 Northeast Ohio high schools. The following is a list of the remaining shows for the upcoming season.

● An Original Film written by Academy instructor Abraham Adams, premiering at the Annual awards show in May of 2024.
