Cher Is ‘Strong Enough’ as She Brings Her Angelic Voice and Iconic Look to the 2024 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show

Cher hit the stage at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show — and the moment was every bit as iconic as fans would expect!

The pop legend, 78, took the stage on Tuesday, Oct. 15 for the 2024 show, which marked the annual runway spectacle’s return after its 2019 cancellation amid criticism for its lack of inclusivity.

On the pink carpet, Cher insisted her performance outfit was “not a big deal,” telling host Olivia Culpo “don’t expect that much” while standing alongside boyfriend Alexander Edwards.

But the all-black ensemble stood out among a sea of red models walking by Cher as she belted out two of her iconic hits: “Strong Enough” and “Believe.” She even switched out the blonde ‘do she wore on the carpet for her signature black Cher-hair.

As for her outfit, Cher lit up the New York City runway in glittery oversized cargo pants. On top, she rocked a sparkling strapless top, closed by a leather skin-showing corset. A long-sleeve cropped coat added to the layered look, while diamond jewelry — including a chunking chain necklace — gave the glam getup some extra shine.

Cher headlined the landmark Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show along with a musical lineup consisting entirely of women artists — including “Water” hitmaker Tyla and Blackpink’s LISA — for the first time in the history of the brand.

For her carpet look, Cher wore a plum blazer layered over a mesh top, which she teamed with multicolored leather barrel pants featuring zipper details. She also added more metallic details with several belts and rings, plus a pair of statement earrings.

Edwards, 38, kept things simple in a black suit and crisp white undershirt, which he teamed with a funky Vivienne Westwood tie and ‘90s-inspired oval sunglasses.

The pair cuddled up to each other as they posed on the pink carpet, with Edwards even planting a kiss on her cheek at one point.

Victoria’s Secret first announced news of Cher’s headlining performance in September, dubbing the pop singer an “icon,” “legend” and “mother of fashion.”

“It’s a woman’s world, so it’s understood that you can’t have a fashion show without the mother of fashion herself—@Cher!” the brand wrote on Instagram.

“We’re beyond excited to announce she will officially be performing at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2024,” the post continued. “But she won’t be alone…stay tuned, more announcements are coming to round out our first-ever, all-women lineup. #VSFashionShow.”

When the brand first announced that the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was returning for the first time since 2018 — save for 2023’s runway-less show, dubbed The Tour — it promised a more inclusive show.

“We’ve read the comments and heard you,” the brand said in a May Instagram post. “The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is ✨ BACK ✨ and will reflect who we are today, plus everything you know and love—the glamour, runway, wings, musical entertainment, and more!”

In a statement shared with PEOPLE at the time, a rep for Victoria’s Secret echoed this message.

“The 2024 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show will deliver precisely what our customers have been asking for — the glamour, runway, fashion, fun, wings, entertainment — all through a powerful, modern lens reflecting who we are today,” the rep stated. “We’re thrilled to share a women-led articulation of this iconic property later this year!”

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show airs on Tues. Oct 15 at 7 p.m. ET on Prime Video or Victoria’s Secret YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram.
