Chris Pratt Addresses the Backlash Against the ‘Super Mario Bros. Movie’

Chris Pratt responds to criticism that his performance in the Super Mario Bros. Movie lacked an accent by setting the record straight.

In an interview with Extra, Chris Pratt suggested to fans that they “go watch the movie, and then we can talk about it.”

Pratt, who is 43 years old, initially stated, “I really think that once you see the movie…,” but then changed his mind and corrected himself by saying, “And you know what, in all honesty, I think you probably need to watch it twice.”

The actor from Jurassic World spoke out after hearing complaints from fans. In addition to John Leguizamo, who played Luigi in the 1993 movie adaptation of the video game franchise, he was criticized for his casting as an African-American man in the role of an Italian boy.
