Church to host special needs resource fair


There will be a Special Needs Resource Fair at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 600 Anita Drive in Tehachapi, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, This is a free community event. Families are welcome to attend to get information from local resources and services.

Organizations and agencies in attendance include, so far, with more pending: Special Olympics (they are starting the program here in Tehachapi!), Kern Regional Center, Ally Comprehensive Services, State Council on Developmental Disabilities, Hayden Consultants (behavior analyst), Beverly Foster (advocate), Vikki Rice (advocate), Dudes & Divas, Lego Builders, The Well Music & Arts Foundation, Rising Star Riders, College Community Services, Healing Connections, Pathways to Work, HEARTS Connection, Tehachapi Police Deptartment, TUSD, and information on special needs planning from attorney Ciara Martinez.

Advocates Beverly Foster and Vikki Rice will teach free workshops for parents on IEPs, assessments, and other related topics, ending with a Q&A session.

This also includes mental health services! See you there!
