CINCINNATI (WKRC) – Michelle Robinson, a Nashville singer/songwriter based out of Cincinnati, won a prestigious music award honoring independent talent.

Robinson of Michelle Robinson Band won a Josie Music Award on Sunday night for Artist of the Year Modern Country (Female) at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. It the biggest independent artist awards show in the country with over 59,000 submissions.

“Words cannot express how grateful I am,” she posted on Facebook. “Thanks to all of you for believing in me and for the opportunity to share my joy and love of music with you all! Also thanks to my daddy in heaven for giving me my first guitar!! We have the best MRB family and I love y’all so much!”

Robinson is also a school counselor while playing over 100 shows a year.

She’s opened and shared the stage with national recording artists like Scotty McCreery, Maddie & Tae, JoDee Messina, Phil Vassar and Diamond Rio.

The Michelle Robinson Band has dozens of scheduled performances in the Cincinnati-area, including next weekend.

That was not the only award bestowed upon someone from the Tri-State. Babby Mackey was an inductee to the Independent Country Music Hall of Fame.
