The City of Ballarat is seeking a short-term contractor to audit public, civic, and some private spaces in the city to map the assets for innovative temporary activations. A logical understanding of the built environment, the heritage overlays and access to amenities are critical to visualizing and planning activations within this context.
Temporary activations that will aim to make sites more people friendly, aesthetically attractive and/or economically active will include short-term interventions and adaptive reuse of public spaces, underutilized spaces, and laneways. These activations will be made possible by a careful audit of what is available and what is possible. The City Mapping Project will provide the basis for the informed planning and implementation of future activations.
The successful contractor will conduct the physical audit and mapping of the spaces within the city, liaise with various stakeholders within the City to include existing knowledge, and produce an interactive outcome that will be incorporated within the City’s internal mapping software.
The role works closely with the Public Art Officer within the Creative City Team in the Council and with a range of relevant officers and stakeholders within and outside Council. We need a self-starter who can assist in continuing to bring stakeholders together and communicate openly and effectively.
The total amount payable for the contract is $19,360 including all superannuation, leave and other expenses incurred. The contractor will be expected to be available part time as per the following schedule:
4 days per week over approx. 2.5 months
$55 p/h x 32 hours per week = $1760 p/w x 11 weeks = $19,360
