Coach Muhambe: Poor nutrition, financial difficulty behind Madira Soccer Assassins’ poor form

Madira
Soccer Assassins’ head coach Francis Muhambe has blamed his poor performance in
the Kenya Women Premier League to a financial crisis hitting the team.

Madira
Soccer Assassins lost their two derby matches against Vihiga Queens (0-1) and
Bunyore Starlets (0-1) before a 3-0 drubbing at the hands of Wadadia on Sunday
at Mumboha Sports Ground and Muhambe is attributing it to the financial hitches,
which among others, has made the girls settle for poor nutrition.

“We
have one reason why we lost and why we are struggling. The reason is off the
pitch. Feeding is a problem and that is why the girls lack energy,” he said. “Madira
Soccer Assassins are in a serious financial crisis which if solved players will
be fed right and well,” he said in a post-match reflection at Mumboha Grounds after
a 3-0 whipping by the visiting Wadadia FC.

Muhambe
is now calling on well-wishers to come to the rescue of the Madira Girls’ High
School sponsored team.

“Under
these circumstances we are bound to struggle to get points in the KWPL,” he
added.

Muhambe blamed the tribulations to the
unfulfilled promise to the team when they emerged FKF Division One champions.

“We
were to receive a cash Ksh0.5m which is yet to hit our accounts otherwise I
could have used some of the money to sign experienced players,” he said.

The
sentiments were echoed by Madira Soccer Assassins CEO Alex Muleri who said
Madira Girls was struggling to cater for the players’ upkeep urging FKF to
release the KES 0.5M to help the team.
