The late Collette Jones-Chin made a unique contribution to the arts, art education and administration of culture in Guyana and the Caribbean. Her combined contribution was extended across a number of different but related disciplines.
Her work is currently being celebrated in her homeland, following a series of activities in the Caribbean. Jones-Chin made her mark as a painter, designer, art teacher and educator in the field of the fine arts, but had an equally significant career in the theatre as an actress, playwright, director, and set designer. To those may be added her work as an administrator in the field of culture, as a professional educator, curriculum designer, and Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) examiner in art. She conducted workshops and served in various administrative capacities in secondary schools, tertiary institutions and government ministries. She built careers in Guyana, St Vincent and the Grenadines, St Lucia, Anguilla and Sint Maarten.
