COLUMBIA – With winter quickly approaching the city of Columbia Mayor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Health hosted a winter well-being expo on Saturday in Columbia from 9 a.m. to noon at the MU Family Impact Center.
The event that was free to attend had numerous vendors in attendance providing hands on activities and giveaways related to mental well-being.
Candace Rodman, chair member of the Mayor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Health, talked about the event and the importance of practicing well-being year-round.
“You know, we do a lot of stuff for physical activity. Columbia is a great place for outdoor activity, things like that. And the wintertime, some of that slows down right, it gets colder, it gets darker things like that. Sometimes our mental health goes down a little bit in the wintertime when there is seasonal depression, things like that. So, we wanted a way to highlight some of the resources that Columbia does have that focuses on your mental health.”
Rodman says this is their first winter well-being expo they have hosted. She says they are always looking for new vendors and volunteers. For those interested in getting involved can do so by clicking here.
