Columbia’s arts and culture nonprofits helped drive 2022 economy


Columbia nonprofit arts and culture organizations generated $18.27 million in economic activity in 2022, according to a news release from the city’s Office of Cultural Affairs.

Of this sum, $10.23 million came from the organizations’ spending while spending by audiences made up $8.04 million, according to a study by Arts and Economic Prosperity 6. This spending supported 592 jobs total – including jobs not directly tied to arts and culture nonprofits – and generated $3.73 million in local, state and federal government revenue.
