MCC Fine Arts Gallery features works from former photography professors

FLINT — Mott Community College’s (MCC) Fine Arts Gallery will present “Looking Back: Works By Former Mott Community College Photography Professors,” an exhibition of works from former photography professors in celebration of the college’s centennial.

The exhibit will run through Nov. 24.

Featured artists include Fred Cross, Bruce Edwards, Rob Van Marter, and Bob Rentschler.

The artists will give an Art Talk at the Visual Arts and Design Center at MCC on Nov. 13 at 12:30 p.m. These talks will be available through the MCC Fine Art Gallery page (www.gallery.mcc.edu) and are made possible in part by the Ballenger Trust.

The MCC Fine Arts Gallery is located in room 128 of the Visual Arts and Design Center on the College’s main campus in Flint at 1401 E. Court St. 48503. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The exhibition and any presentations are free and open to the public. Shelter of Flint partners with Applegate Chevrolet for Homelessness Awareness Month

FLINT — Shelter of Flint, a leading non-profit organization dedicated to providing safe housing, independence, and stability to those experiencing homelessness, is proud to announce its partnership with Applegate Chevrolet, a renowned name in the automotive industry, to kick-start Homelessness Awareness Month in a meaningful and impactful way.

The collaborative effort aims to raise awareness about homelessness and make a positive difference in the lives of those who are without shelter during the colder months.

Throughout the month of November, Applegate Chevrolet will host a “Fill-A-Car” promotion at their dealership located at 3637 S. Saginaw St. in Flint.

The centerpiece of this initiative will be a vehicle on the showroom floor, strategically set up as a collection point for essential adult cold-weather gear such as sleeping bags, insulated gloves, and long underwear along with winter coats and boots for children from infants to teenagers.

All items donated must be new and in original packaging.

November show schedule and events for Longway Planetarium

FLINT — It may be getting colder outside, but on the inside of the cozy planetarium dome you can relax in reclining seats while comfortably gazing up into the stars.

Or see a full-dome show with amazing visuals and audio. Most shows are 45 minutes. No late seating please.

To accommodate the entire family, Longway Planetarium will be open with extra shows and hours during the Thanksgiving holiday break Nov. 24-26.
