Community Chorus of Redlands will present ‘The Healing Power of Music’

The Community Chorus of Redlands, directed by Jeffrey H. Rickard, will present its annual “The Healing Power of Music” concert 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Redlands.

The presentation includes choral music, congregational hymns and readings, intended to bring healing and solace to the community, according to a news release.

The chorus first presented “The Healing Power of Music” in February 2016 in response to the Dec. 2, 2015, terrorism attack in San Bernardino and, except for a pandemic pause, has presented it annually since.

Selections in this year’s program include “How Lovely Are the Messengers That Preach Us the Gospel of Peace” by Felix Mendelssohn, “Non Nobis, Domine” by Patrick Doyle from the 1989 film “Henry V,” “How Can I Keep From Singing” by Taylor Davis, “This is the Day” by Dan Forrest and “With a Voice of Singing” by Martin Shaw.

The 65-member chorus will be accompanied by Trinity Episcopal Church’s pipe organ.

A freewill offering will be received in support of the Community Chorus of Redlands and its free choral presentations.

Trinity Episcopal Church, which is sponsoring the presentation, is at 419 S. Fourth St., Redlands, at Fourth Street and Fern Avenue.
