Conservation Groups Call Alaska LNG Environmental Review Flawed


The Center for Biological Diversity and the Sierra Club on Thursday challenged federal agencies’ environmental analyses for a liquefied natural gas project in Alaska, contending it didn’t adequately address risks to the area’s endangered species.

The groups are specifically asking the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit to vacate biological opinions from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and National Marine Fisheries Service, which they say don’t fully examine or mitigate the project’s effects on polar bears and species of whales.
