Coopersville/Polkton Fire enhances safety, technology with 2 grant awards

COOPERSVILLE — The Coopersville/Polkton Fire Department announced earlier this month that they are the recipient of two grants aimed at improving equipment and safety measures, awarded by the state and the Michigan Township Participating Plan.

Through the state’s MI Fire Equipment Grant, the fire department was awarded $20,000. A significant portion of this grant has been allocated to the acquisition of state-of-the-art self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). The equipment ensures breathable air to firefighters operating in environments with compromised air quality, such as structure fires and hazardous scenes. Additionally, a portion of the grant will fund the acquisition of four sets of structural turnout gear.
